On Saturday, April 12, 2008, we had the most gorgeous spring weather. The warmest day of the year so far - a very warm 78 degrees. A perfect day to go to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. So about 1:30 in the afternoon we take off for Woodburn, a trip of about 28 miles; a 48 minute drive through small towns and countryside. Well, we got to the turn off to the farm to find a verrry long line of cars all wanting to go to the same place. It took us a little over half an hour just to get to the parking lot - we crept at about 10 MPH. We finally got in, paid our $5.00 and got a parking spot right in front of the gift shop. How lucky was that?
The Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm is over 40 acres of tulips and daffodils. The daffodils were mostly gone now, what with all the cold and rain we've been having. It's been a very cold and wet spring. Very unusal for this time of year. It's been more like an extended winter than spring in the northwest. So a lot of the tulips haven't opened yet but there was quite a bit of color and many varieties of tulips to see. We took lots of pictures. A good majority of mine came out blurry but that was the fault of the sun. LOL I couldn't see the image in the view finder to see if I was getting a good picture. (Gotta put the blame somewhere. Right? It surely wasn't my fault.)
So, sit back and enjoy your mini tour of the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. I only have names for two of the tulip varieties, the rest I don't know what they are except very beautiful.
If you snag any of my pictures you may use them as you please except you may Not claim them as your own. You may not add them to any groups or share them for monetary gain. Do not pass them through email.
